ANP Technologies Wins Second US DoD Phase III SBIR Award

Newark, DE (March 20, 2013 ) – ANP Technologies, Inc. (ANP) is pleased to announce that it has received its second Phase III SBIR contract from the US Army for the advanced development and manufacture of prototypes of a rapid on-site test for the detection of acetylcholinesterase inhibitors in water. ANP’s first Phase III SBIR contract was for the development and production of NIDS® rapid biological agent detection system, which led to its receiving the National Tibbetts Award in 2011.

The newly developed rapid test, called the NIDS® ACE system, is based on ANP’s proprietary technology and uses a handheld reader and small disposable test tickets to rapidly detect nerve agents, pesticides, and toxic heavy metals in drinking water at levels below the human lethal concentrations. Commercial versions of these tests are also available for the determination of the safety of drinking water and source water, such as water from wells, rivers, and lakes, and residual pesticide levels in fruits and vegetables.

“It is very rare to see a small technology company win two consecutive Phase III SBIR contracts in a row. The award of this Phase III SBIR contract is another great testimony to ANP’s ability to rapidly transition cutting-edge technologies to the battlefield,” stated Mr. Tom Bodnar, Chief Business Officer of ANP. This low-cost and easy-to-use test has many uses outside of its military component including its use as a preventive raw material screening tool for wine and juice makers to eliminate potential pesticide contaminations in their final products.
