Department of Defense Award Water Monitoring Contract for Biotoxins to ANP

Newark, DE (September 12, 2014) - On September 3, 2014, the Department of Defense (DoD) selected ANP Technologies, Inc. (ANP) as the company of choice for its continued Water Monitoring effort for bio-toxins in the field. ANP has been the provider of such rapid tests for the DoD during the past five years after successful development through a DoD SBIR grant. The new multi-million dollar five year contract will allow ANP to continuously supply its rapid multiplexed bio-toxin assays for monitoring water systems globally during a host of military operations.

The NIDS® handheld biotoxin assays are the most sensitive and robust rapid multiplexed tests for the detection and identification of various biological agents while exhibiting no Hook Effect, a deadly false negative result in the presence of high levels of biological agents. ANP is the ONLY company that currently addresses this issue, which has plagued the first responders with significantly increased operational risks and complexity, as well as cost and logistics.

Currently, the fully integrated NIDS® rapid handheld bio-threat detection system including both a handheld reader and multiplexed tests has been fielded by theDoD, the Department of Homeland Security/FEMA, and the U.S. National Guard in each state throughout the country. Tom Bodnar, ANP’s Chief Business Officer commented, “We are very, very pleased that the DoD has chosen us, once again, to utilize our products in furtherance of one of their vital missions – to protect our armed forces wherever they may be stationed in the world. This award is a great testimony to the superiority of our nanotechnology based biological agent detection system.”
